Our Gatsby Escape Room was a success! Everyone was able to crack the code—and what would an escape room be without a little partying?

Mrs. Washington’s literature class is reading The Great Gatsby, and what better way to understand the book than by experiencing a little mystery themselves? Of course, our middle schoolers couldn’t let them have all the fun, so we had a few bouncers to make sure the escape room didn’t get too crazy, as well as waiters to ensure our guests didn’t have to lift a finger.

A great time was had by all!

Science You Can See… and Eat!

Our middle schoolers are diving into the fascinating world of amoebas! What better way to bring science to life than with a little creativity (and candy, of course )?

After observing amoebas under the microscope, each student had the opportunity to recreate what they saw using candy they brought from home. From identifying the unique shapes to capturing the details, our students turned their observations into sweet scientific masterpieces!

And the best part? Once their creations were complete, they got to enjoy their candy, too! Because who says learning science can’t be a little sweet?

We love seeing our students explore, create, and make meaningful connections between what they learn in the classroom and the world around them!

Seeing Things Differently in AP Psychology!

Our AP Psychology students had a hands-on learning experience using glasses designed to distort their vision! What may have looked like a fun challenge was also an opportunity to explore how our brains interpret and respond to the world around us.

Activities like this help students better understand the connection between the brain, perception, and behavior. Sometimes, the best way to learn about psychology is to experience it firsthand!

Who knew seeing things differently could be such a great learning experience?

📚🦋 Learning Beyond Our Four Walls! 🦋📚

Our Early Education and 1st Grade students had their first outing of the school year, and off to the library they went! 📖✨

While our local library wasn’t quite ready to welcome school groups just yet, that didn’t stop us from making the most of our adventure! We enjoyed a snack outside on the patio, played together, made new friends, and even picked out a few books to take home. 📚🥰

And the best part? We spotted butterflies—something our students have been learning about in class! 🦋 It was such a fun way to connect what we’ve been learning in the classroom with the world around us.

At SMCA, we believe learning doesn’t only happen inside our four walls. Learning can happen anywhere! 🌎❤️

We can’t wait to visit the library again soon and see what adventures await us! 📚🦋

Our students had the incredible opportunity to witness the life cycle of chickens firsthand as our eggs hatched right before their eyes! From learning about incubation to watching each tiny chick break through its shell, this was truly a magical and unforgettable experience. 🥚➡️🐥

Throughout the process, our students observed, asked questions, and discovered how patience, care, and nature all work together to bring new life into the world. Being able to experience each step along the way made learning come alive in such a meaningful way!
